Alumnae R&R
2010 ALUMNAE SPRING R&R (Re-connection & Renewal)
Friday, March 19, 2010, 9:00 A.M. – Saturday, March 20, 2010, 2:00 P.M.
ARC Retreat Center
This year’s retreat will feature a community art project facilitated by WLC alums Joanne (aka Chuckie), '01, and Alice, '97 & '05, and Estella, '04. Many may remember the apron collection that Chuckie brought along to the Art R&R a couple of years ago. We will build on this apron collection and reflect on our heritage of women who have shaped and supported us. The retreat will include time for reflection, creating your own apron collage, and journaling about your creative process.
Save the date. Details and registration information will be sent in Alumnae Newsletter or contact Annie by email.

PAST R&Rs
2009 DEEPENING OUR REFLECTIVE PRACTICES
March 20-21, 2009
Eighteen WLC women gathered at the ARC Retreat Center on March 20 and
21 for the 2009 Spring Alumnae Reconnection & Renewal (R&R)
Retreat. A big thank you to facilitators, Marcia Hyatt and Lou Anne
Koerschner, who prepared and guided the group as they delved into the
topic of “Deepening Our Reflective Practices.” Visualization,
journaling, mindfulness meditation, labyrinth walks, and dreamwork were
practices that were explored. In the true spirit of a learning
community, the weekend provided time to learn some of the theory behind
our practices, to engage in deep dialogue about how we incorporate
practices into our daily lives, as well as opportunities to try out
some new things. A final discussion on creating positive rituals
focused on helping to create new behaviors once we return back home.
2008 VISUAL
WAYFINDING
April 4-5, 2008
Those of us who gathered at the 2008 WLC Spring R&R at the ARC
held a space for the alumnae of our Women's Learning Community who were
unable to join us. Our theme this year was "Visual Wayfinding" and we
worked with art, artifacts and imagery to journey within. As we engaged
in a drawing meditation, created image card decks and enjoyed movement
with The 5 Elements, our creations and dialogue revealed several themes.
Openness - opening our awareness, having an "open door, open window" policy, being open to giving and receiving
Trust - trust the women, trust the process, trust the journey,
trust and leap boldly, trust flight, trust that you can do that which
you fear because you are loved and protected
Space - many women felt a longing for wide open spaces, a
feeling of big sky, the space to see the bigger picture, new insights
from every angle, buoyancy, freedom
The 5 Elements showed up in many images of Fire - a red-hot kiln,
lightning and fiery red clouds; Air - blue skies, cloud-filled skies
filled with light, birds in flight; Earth - beautiful landscapes,
mountains, bright flowers, creatures of all kinds; Metal - structures
of metal, barbed wire, images of dancers cut into a metal ball; Water -
vast expanses of calm water, scuba divers, waterfalls and light shining
on water.
